Studio Policy

Goals & Expectations:

Strong foundations prompt sustainable progress! I, Patricia Rose, believe in balancing pedagogical technique with fun, engaging music to foster continuous passion and learning. Lessons are always tailored to each individual student’s needs and I encourage students to discover music on their own in hopes of incorporating students’ unique interests into our lesson curriculum.

PARENT INVOLVEMENT
While not necessary, parents are always welcome to sit in on student’s lessons! When parents are involved and informed of the goings on in the lesson room, they can help facilitate productive home practice!

PRACTICE REQUIREMENTS
Consistency is Key!

Elementary students should aim to practice 5 days a week for 20-30 minutes per day

Middle/High School students should aim to practice 5 days a week for 45-60 minutes per day

These are recommendations, and of course any student is welcome to practice more than the recommended practice goals. Breaking practice up into smaller sessions is an effective way to tackle practice challenges and avoid fatigue/ burnout.

Students are responsible for purchasing any materials or books necessary for their individualized lesson curriculum.

Payment Plans:

REGISTRATION

A one-time fee of $15 is required for registering new students

WEEKLY PAYMENT

Lessons must be paid prior to the start of the scheduled lesson time at the rate of:

$30 per 30-minute lesson or $40 per 45-minute lesson

MONTHLY PAYMENT

Lessons must be paid prior to the start of the first scheduled lesson of the month, the cost of which will be calculated to represent the total number of lessons that will occur in the upcoming month at the rate of:

$28 per 30-minute lesson or $38 per 45-minute lessons

Payment methods accepted: cash, venmo (@rosestringstudio), or credit card (additional 3.5% processing fee)

Late Payments: If monthly payments are not received by the first scheduled lesson of the month, a $10 late fee will incur. Failure to pay the monthly tuition and incurred late fee by the second scheduled lesson of the month will result in an additional $5 late fee and a suspension of any subsequent lessons until the balance is paid in full.

Attendance, Cancellations, & Make-ups:

All students will be expected at their scheduled weekly lesson time, unless an alternative arrangement for special circumstances is agreed upon at the beginning of the pay period.

Please be sure to arrive promptly and be ready to begin at the start of your lesson time! If you arrive late to your lesson, your lesson will conclude at the end of the regularly scheduled lesson block.

If you must cancel your lesson for any reason, the teacher must be notified no later than 2 hours prior to your lesson time or 12 p.m. noon (whichever is sooner) the day of your scheduled lesson via (preferred) text message, email, or phone call.

Lesson cancellations for inclement weather and holidays will be based on the Wicomico & Somerset County School calendars i.e. an afternoon snow storm has led to early dismissal and cancellation of evening school activities in Somerset County Public Schools therefore Rose String Studio will also close for lessons, rehearsals, and/or performances.

If you pay weekly and you miss/cancel/reschedule 3 lessons in a row, you forfeit your time slot and the teacher has the right to permanently reschedule your lesson time or remove you from their schedule. If you miss lessons as a result of suspension because of late payment, you are still subject to permanent removal or time slot forfeiture.

If you pay monthly, you are allowed one sick day with a guaranteed make-up lesson which must be completed within that pay period.

Make-up lessons outside of regularly scheduled lesson slots are to be scheduled at the discretion of the teacher.

If for any reason the teacher is sick or has to reschedule and a suitable make-up lesson time cannot be agreed upon, the student shall be reimbursed for the missed lesson if it has been paid in advance.

Terminating Lessons:

If you choose to terminate your lessons or take an extended leave of absence, written notice is required no later than two weeks prior to your last intended lesson. If your last intended lesson is in the middle of a pay period and the teacher has been given adequate notice, you will be reimbursed for the incomplete lessons. A failure to provide sufficient notice will result in a forfeiture of payment.

Extended Leave of Absence If you provide written notice of your leave, you have 8 months from the last lesson date to re-enroll. After the 8 month period, you are required to pay a new registration fee.

No-call, No-show If you fail to inform the studio of your absence for 3 consecutive weeks, you will be automatically removed from the registrar and forfeit any reimbursements. If you choose to re-enroll in the future, you will be required to pay a new registration fee. If you have any outstanding balances as a result of tuition and late payments from a previous registration that was no-call, no-show terminated, you will be required to pay the outstanding balance in addition to a new registration fee.
